East Coast Trail Ultra

East Coast Trail Ultra

Every year, the last Sunday of October the East Coast Trail Ultra takes you along 50km of the East Coast Trail, starting in Pouch Cove, and Ending at the Inn of Olde in Quidi Vidi (St. John’s).  This year the weather was much better than in 2014… it was cool in the morning, with the temp hovering around 4 or 5 degrees, and it was windy, with gusts upto 80km/h… but it wasn’t raining!  And the wind was coming from the West, which gave us a tail mind most of the time.  Patrick Mcilory gave a breakdown of the course before we set out with a mass start.  I spent most of the day with a few people, Norm, and Rudy, as well as Nat and her teammates (on each of the 3 individual legs)… and I finished with a PB of 6:13:00, nearly 35 mins then my previous time. 2016

Can’t thank the organizers of the race enough, again they put off a top notch event, which emphasised having fun, and companionship… the real prize, beyond the participation Curly Wurly, was crossing the finish line and being treated to a bowl of hot chilli, and a cold beer.
