15 Sep Lewis Hills – Appalachian Gulch
22km – Semi-marked

First off, I’m not sure the proper name on the gulch which you ascend through into the Lewis Hills. I used the name Appalachian because the trail has been marked by the International Appalachian Trail Network in Newfoundland… if someone reads this and could let me know the actual name, please do!

Initial views of the Lewis Hills

Fox Island River Valley, and the long climb into the Lewis Hills (Appalachian Gulch)

Views on the climb – a portion of Turtle Falls

Views on the climb – amazing colors as the Gabbro (Oceanic Crust) mixes with peridotite (Mantle)

As you continue the climb up the valley, at a point metal markers turn up

Views looking east from the climb of Cabox

On the descent I decided to head over towards Big Level, and descend to Fox Island River via Crazy Canyon.
